Breaking Into The Industry Rule #1 — You must think of a concept that is commercially viable BUT don’t share it with ANYONE because EVERYONE is looking for a fresh idea.

You gotta pay attention to the sharks they do come out of the water. One of my most vivid memories of when I first started out –I went to one of the biggest Hollywood hang out spot to see if I could meet a big time producer that could get my show off the ground.   I’m going to always keep it real with yall — my money was funny so I ordered Tea and asked the waitress to bring the menu. She kept staring at me so I added that Steven Segal would be joining me.

While I was sitting in wait, I saw a recognizable face in Hollywood so I approached her . We will name her BIATCH to hide her identity. But BIATCH knows who she is. Any who, I introduced myself and, of course, mentioned that my brothers were Keenen, Damon, Marlon and Shawn and that I was the new Wayans on the block abouts to bust into the industry. I don’t speak that way any more — well not true.

Any who, I also told her that I thought I had been stood up by Steven Segal (a lie, I don‘t even know him). So the BIATCH quickly offered me to join her for lunch. LOL. I ate the most healthiest meal ever on her tab, of course. It tasted bland. Nothing like the peanut butter and jelly or spam sandwiches that I had been use too eating.

Any who, I decided to share my idea with BIATCH for my new reality show. She listened intently and although my eyes are chinky and small, I did see that she had hardly touched her food because she was so busy taking notes.

Any who, Biatch paid the tab and promised to call me. She never did. Flash forward 6 months later — my reality show was on television and it had become a major hit, BIATCH got paid and I didn’t. But I learned a valuable lesson — a close mouth does get fed. Thanks to BIATCH.
